Twilight of the Thunder Gods. Yea, I like it too. The Swedish Viking-influenced melodic death-metallers - who will be touring with The Absence this fall - will thrust their sixth full-length album upon the world on... well, we don't know when yet. But it will almost certainly be sometime before the end of the year, as the band is done recording, and currently working on mixing the album. In fact, you should check out these studio diaries documenting the recording process - they're not bad as far as studio diaries go.

Old-school thrashers Hirax are preparing to release a brand-new live DVD, "Thrash and Destroy", on June 30 via Selfmadegod Records. The disc will feature the band's entire 75-minute performance from the Keep It True Festival, which was held November 3, 2007 in Dittigheim, Germany. Check out the full track list...

Calling all maggots. Can't wait for the new Slipknot album? You're in luck. You can now download "All Hope is Gone," the new Slipknot single that was previewed earlier this week, for free right here (free sign-up required). You'd better act fast, however, because it will only be available until midnight tonight. Beginning June 23 the track will be available (for $) as a digital single. The song will, of course, be featured as the title track on Iowa-based nine piece 's upcoming fourth studio album, All Hope is Gone. The new LP is due out August 26 via Roadrunner Records.

...Death Magnetic. After teasing fans for all of last week with a slow, coded revealing process, the full title for Metallica's upcoming full-length has finally been officially confirmed. No idea what it means, but I think I like it. Check out this video revealing the album title (and a new riff):
