MORBID ANGEL VOCALIST DETAINED IN ITALY FOR POSSESSING A 'WEAPON'

It seems that Italian airport security just can't appreciate good taste in apparel. Morbid Angel frontman David Vincent was withheld at an Italian airport earlier today for possessing his trademark bullet belt. After being detained by a group of 15 to 20 armed police officers, Vincent was questioned for two and a half hours before finally being released.

OPETH TO TOUR WITH HIGH ON FIRE, BARONESS, NACHTMYSTIUM

Despite vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt's recent death-defying bout with chicken pox, Swedish progressive death-metallers Opeth have fully regrouped and will be ready to hit the road this fall with High on Fire, Baroness and Nachtmystium. The tour will continue the band's efforts in support of their recently released outstanding ninth full-length album, Watershed.

There is certainly no shortage of Iron Maiden tribute albums in the world, but apparently Kerrang! magazine feels like we really need one more. Their collection - known as Maiden Heaven - will be given away free with the July 16 issue of the magazine. Included on the disc will be some killer tunes from some heavy hitters ... as well as a few mediocre efforts from some suspect choices.

ED FORCE ONE ... IS DEAD

Following a violent uprising in Africa, Ed Force One is no more. While the physical Boeing 757 still exists, it is no longer decorated with those killer Iron Maiden decals. Astraeus Airlines, who own the 757 in question, were so fond of the decorations - and the reactions they were generating - that they allowed them to remain after the first leg of the band's tour.

OVERCAST SIGN WITH METAL BLADE

The metal family tree in Massachusetts is a long and tangled one. Most everyone has heard of current wildly popular bands like Shadows Fall and Killswitch Engage, but few know of their tangled roots in a vastly influential band known as Overcast.
