ALBUM REVIEW: CRYPTOPSY 'THE UNSPOKEN KING'

Betrayal. Failure. Harsh words that aren't meant to be tossed around lightly. Unfortunately, this is a situation where they are warranted. Canadian (formerly) technical death-metallers Cryptopsy have more or less turned their backs on the fans who have supported them year after year, and completely overhauled their sound. Their new album, The Unspoken King, is clearly an attempt by the band to ingratiate themselves with the burgeoning young "Hot Topic metal" audience.

HIMSA CALLING IT QUITS; FINAL SHOW ANNOUNCED

Seattle's Himsa are hanging up their instruments for good, according to TheGauntlet. The band, who have been together for over a decade, released four studio albums and two EPs during their long career. The break-up doesn't appear to be due to any sort of major falling out or bad blood between members. Rather, as bassist and founding member Derek Harn puts it, "it's time to let it go." The group will go out with a bang at El Corazon in their hometown on August 16. Read on to see the full statement from the band...

BLEEDING THROUGH POST NEW SONG: 'ORANGE COUNTY BLACK AND BLUE'

Despite their recent label troubles, Bleeding Through have gone ahead and posted a brand-new, unreleased song on their MySpace, titled "Orange County Blonde and Blue." The song is scheduled to be included on the band's upcoming album, Declaration, which will be based on the rigors of the road, and will seemingly be released whenever their issues with Trustkill get sorted out. For now, check out the new song, which takes obvious influence from both thrash and black metal.

ALBUM REVIEW: TERROR 'THE DAMNED, THE SHAMED'

Hardcore heroes Terror are back with an album that should please loyalists and continue to expand their ever-growing fan base at the same time. The lyrics are the usual fare about standing strong and fighting against that which threatens to overcome you, but the music has found two unexpected new friends: melody and harmony. Whether you like Madball or Metallica, you should find a lot to like on The Damned, The Shamed.
