In case you were hoping to book Burzum, or simply to have Varg Vikernes himself over for dinner, you're out of luck. Varg, who is serving a 21-year prison sentence for the murder of Mayhem guitarist Euronymous in 1993, has been denied parole by the Norwegian Ministry of Justice for the third time.






























Varg is still deemed "too dangerous" to be returned to the outside world. Varg disagrees. "I don't understand this," the 35-year-old black-metaller told VG, a Norwegian newspaper. "They want me to have an arrangement with The Norwegian Labour and Welfare Service so they can sort everything out for me, but I don't need that. Do I have to become a welfare case to be released? I have a house, a job and a family that awaits me."

According to Blabbermouth, Vikernes is, in fact, married with two children. Still, his former ties to neo-Nazi groups makes the Ministry hesitant to thrust him on an unsuspecting public, despite Varg's insistence that he is no longer involved with those groups. "I haven't had any contact with those groups in a very long time. The Norwegian Police Security Service (PST) is well aware of this," claims Vikernes. Vikernes can try for parole again in one year's time.
