OZZFEST LINEUP ANNOUNCED: METALLICA TO CO-HEADLINE

Good news and bad news. First, the good news: Ozzfest details have finally been announced. The bad news: Ozzfest will not be a traditional touring festival this summer, but rather a one-day stadium event held August 9 at Pizza Hut Park in Dallas. I hope you've saved up your frequent-flyer miles.

More good news: Metallica ARE co-headlining the show, as was previously rumored. More bad news: There's not much else good on the bill. On second thought, maybe you should hold onto those miles.

Obviously, the Prince of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne, will fill the other headlining spot - who goes on last between he and Metallica will probably come down to a matter of ego - while Serj Tankian and Jonathan Davis will perform main-stage solo sets of their own. The rest of the main-stage acts include Vinnie Paul's new supergroup, Hellyeah, Max and Igor's Cavalera Conspiracy, Massachusetts-metallers Shadows Fall, Finnish cello quartet Apocalyptica and the female-fronted In This Moment.

The second stage will be an eclectic mix, featuring neo-nĂ¼-metallers Sevendust and Devildriver alongside the New Orleans trio of Kingdom of Sorrow, Soilent Green and Goatwhore. Rounding out the action on the second stage will be doom-metallers Witchcraft from Sweden.

A third stage, dubbed the "Texas Stage," will feature local heroes The Sword, Drowning Pool and reunited thrashers Rigor Mortis.

So why only a one-day festival, you might ask? Is Ozzy getting too old to tour?

"Ozzy just finished an 11-month world tour, so I think he deserves a summer off," Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy's wife and the organizer of Ozzfest, said in a statement, according to multiple outlets.

Or maybe they're feeling the pressure from the inaugural Rockstar Mayhem
tour. "We've given everyone else the blueprint and we have to keep evolving Ozzfest," Sharon remarked. "This is just the beginning; [promoter] AEG Live and I have a lot of new ideas for Ozzfest."

So what do you think of the lineup? Will you consider making the trek to Dallas?
